impulsity changes name to Aeritas
IRVING, TEXAS - February 14, 2001 - Impulsity, Inc., an innovator in mobile commerce technology, announced today that it has changed its name to Aeritas, Inc. The new name combines the Latin words for "air" - aeris - and "truth" - veritas - and is pronounced: air i `täs.
Located in Frankfurt, Germany, SBS will deliver the Aeritas nonstop mobile check-in and boarding service, the first m-commerce travel solution of its kind, to its customers in the European travel industry.
"In renaming the company Aeritas, we selected 'air' because our technology drives wireless communication," said Malik Mamdani, co-founder and chief executive officer. "We chose 'truth' because our innovative platform combines the best elements of Web, wireless, barcode and speech verification and recognition technologies to deliver true customer satisfaction in today's mobile world."
Aeritas' open standards, mobile infrastructure platform employs patent-pending technology to deliver user-friendly m-commerce services that solve real-world problems. The Aeritas platform's unique functionality, which includes proven state-of-the-art biometric security, mixed-mode interaction, string and schedule-based location information and bar code scanning transaction authorization, provides a foundation for a broad set of mobile solutions.
"Mobile and Web experiences are fundamentally different," Mamdani said. "We are leveraging our understanding of these differences to redefine the customer experience for the mobile world. By making mobile transactions secure, practical and convenient, our technology is opening the door to entirely new services that customers will really use and enjoy."
Aeritas and Sabre Holdings Company (NYSE: TSG), the leading provider of technology and marketing services for the travel industry, jointly announced in October that the two companies had signed a letter of intent to deliver the travel industry's first mobile check-in and boarding service. Beta testing of the system is scheduled to begin this quarter, with rollout planned for later this year. Aeritas' non-stop mobile check-in service enables airline passengers to check-in and board using a web-enabled telephone or PDA. The solution eliminates the need for customers to wait in long lines. This is a pain point not only for the airline industry and on-the-go travelers, but also in other industries where consumers are required to wait in line to purchase tickets such as movie theaters, sports arenas and entertainment venues. Aeritas is developing other user-friendly solutions for rollout later this year.
"Businesses that deploy the Aeritas patent-pending mobile technology will strengthen their customer loyalty and grow market share by providing their customers with a convenient, fast and secure way to transact business anytime, anywhere and on virtually any device," said Mamdani. "The Aeritas mobile platform seamlessly integrates with existing customer access methods, which allows businesses to maximize their investment in existing technology while capitalizing on the wealth of opportunity presented by ubiquitous mobile devices."
